Is the ECFMG certificate required for application and interview?
Yes, the ECFMG certificate is required as part of the ERAS packet.
Do you accept foreign clinical service as one year of GME?
No. One year of preliminary training in an ACGME accredited residency program is required to enter our program as a PGY2.
What about vacation?
Emory residents receive 15 working days of vacation, plus 12 sick days and University holidays each year.
Do residents get a book allowance?
Each resident is granted a book allowance during the course of residency, totaling $900.
Can residents moonlight?
It is the policy of Emory University School of Medicine to discourage patient care activities by residents outside the Training Program (moonlighting). This decision is strictly up to each individual Training Program.
Moonlighting in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation cannot be undertaken without approval of the Program Director or Department Chair. If, at any time, moonlighting interferes with resident duties, moonlighting will not be permitted. It is understood that the activity is NOT part of the Training Program and the resident must make no representation which would indicate any responsibility by the Department Rehabilitation Medicine and by the University (i.e. wearing Emory training program coats, identification badges, etc. FURTHERMORE, NO MALPRACTICE COVERAGE IS PROVIDED FOR INDIVIDUALS WHILE MOONLIGHTING.
